Hey, my magsafe power adapter for my 1st Gen macbook pro finally stopped working today. the magnet end had started to deteriorate although it had still been working to charge the laptop for like two months after the deterioration started. today it stopped lighting up when i plugged it into the computer, so i went and bought a new one.
if you can just cut off an inch of the cord and splice the magnet end back on, it might be worth it for you. I have no electrical knowledge, so i'm not going to try to fix it.
if you want it, it is $20 shipped in the continental US. Comes with the cable, the ac/dc converter, and the longer extension cord that brings it to an outlet.
new ones are like $80, so if you can fix it, this is a great deal!

yeah, but my warranty is long since expired. this was a revision A macbook pro, pre-ordered and everything.
mine wasn't chewed up or anything, it was just worn out from overuse.
seriously though, if anyone wants it for $20 shipped, let me know.

My MBP is the same age, and i just received my warranty replacement adaptor for on Applecare. Add to that the fan that's breaking, and I've just justified half the cost of Applecare. I'll get the remote replaced (only the Play and Up buttons work) the next time the Command Key falls off.
If the wear was on the other end, like with my adaptor, a fix would be doable to the hobbyist with a soldering gun, but fixing the mag-safe end is going to be a lot harder. You've got a $20 yo-yo, I'm afraid.

unless you are going to give me $15 for just the extension, then no.
and I'm NOT selling the set for $15 shipped. It is $20 shipped. Firm. So don't PM me offers for $15 shipped anymore.
so to update: Just the extension cord for $15 shipped or the power brick AND extension cord for $20 shipped.

I might have an extra MagSafe extension cord; I'd ship to Canada.
