Yep, Apple is great for musicians. Just look at artists such as Nine Inch Nails, or Clawfinger (Sweden). they all use Macs!!!!

it's definitely a good thing. many of my musical college friends are able to produce very nice-sounding cds all on their own. we have some pretty good places you can go to record (like bring your own gear, but the acoustics are good) and then you can just do all the producing from your computer, as well as making actual cds of the finished product. it is all quite enpowering.

I can't see a single comparison between Radiohead and Coldplay - except maybe they're both apparently using Macs, and when they both first emerged, the singers had HUGE hair.

I find them dour. Dull. Pretentious media whores, who IMO write very boring tunes. It may be because they are hugely overplayed here in the UK, but I feel no emotion or desire when I hear their music.

Radiohead, however, who I've loved since Pop is Dead, and have seen live many times, are pushing boundaries, raising the standard of electronic guitar music - writing deep, profound lyrics and musical structures. They are artists.

The G5 has definitely shrunk my studio, and given back lots of real estate.

I wouldn't want to do it on a powerbook, though- still not enough power to really stretch out.

A friend and I estimated the other day that the G5 is about 20 times as fast as the Powerbook for the same money. See if your figures agree.

I think I saw a couple of the live acts on MTV with powerbooks attached to their keyboards - hard to tell as there were no close ups, but the shinny silver reflections and in one case the large looking screen - I am sure the guy playing the synth for "Like A Virgin" had a powerbook connected.
