I am looking to get the cheapest macbook I can find. Soooo I assume that would be a bottom line white macbook first gen.. so a 1.83? (if there was a 1.67 or whatnot, that's good too, I dont' recall) core duo macbook with i guess a combo drive.

Outside athestic condition doesn't matter really at all. Scratches and even cracks in the casing would be fine as long as the computer is in good working order. Screen should be decent and crack free. A dead pixel or two is fine.

Looks like there is a 2.0 c2d here going for 900... so I'd assume a first run core duo combo low processor with cosmetic damage would run be around 500 now? especially with MWSF around the bend.

Also, if you know it works and all, but want to keep the harddrive, that's fine too.

Anyone with anything fitting the bill let me know, photos would be GREAT as well as details about teh systems working condition, when you bought it, details (as long as it has 512 mb of ram i'm fine... you could keep the rest of it if it keeps the price down) ram and such and price shipped to 61801. Let me know via PM or here!

:)

Thanks!

apple sells the 1.83 ghz core duo macbook for only $749. while you are charged tax, shipping is free. 512 mb ram, 60 gb hard drive, combo drive and leopard. it might be a bit much, but it's a fair price.

500 is a little too low. I think you may get one for mid 600's unless in bad condition.

Then you have to deal with the warranty on the thing.

I would try a refurb. Bought my 1.83 CD macbook for 749 plus tax. I was looking for a cheaper macbook, but for a little more I got a guaranteed working one, no worries, with a one year warranty.

well that's why i stipulated I didn't care about scratches, yellowing on the palms or cracks in the casing at all as long as it is in working condition. Minus a harddrive or some ram... I figured if one was banged up or someone had one that applecare wouldn't cover because of cosmetic problems like these I could snap it up.

500 with cosmetic damage is what im looking for... first gens should be out of their 1 year included applecare now too, so looking to give someone some money for their uncovered cosmeticly bad macbook i think would be fair.

I know i could get a refurb for a bit over 800 with tax, but since I don't NEED it in good condition or with a 1 year warranty from apple, I don't really want to pay for the good condition and coverage :)

I am going to be voiding the warranty anyway even if there was anything left on it... therefor I don't want it. Older the macbook the better :)

If you can't find one with cosmetic issues that someone would sell, I have a first-gen MacBook 1.83 with 1GB of RAM in good condition that I'd part with for $600.

I have a Rev A (1st gen) MacBook. 2.0GHz CD, SuperDrive, 2GB Ram, 100 (92) GB HD.

Shoot me a reasonable offer. :)

EDIT: Applecare until June 2009

Original offer fell through due to sudden logic board problems :( sad.

Anyway, I'm still looking. I'd be willing to go up to about 600 dollars depending on condition.

Ok. UPDATE: So far I haven't found anyone selling anything I'd be interested in yet. Just shoot me your specs and what you want for a macbook you have (photos via here or email are good too). Applecare really means nothing to me as what I will be doing with this macbook will be voiding the warranty anyway :)

White ones are better because they are cheaper, but black is fine if there is a good price.

Broken screens or missing keys are fine too (assume it just has a crack or something, but still would work if i were to replace the lcd persay) ofcourse, something like that would mean i'd be willing to pay less then 500 for it)

Also respectable would be a first gen macbook pro for a bit more i suppose with extenuating circumstances.
