well my hdd decided to stop working, i think the pcb went out so i'm looking to get another one that's in working condition. bad sectors and stuff are even better so then i can get it even cheaper. it was in the clear external enclosure with the blue and red lights. one of the chips on the pcb gets really hot when plugged in and the hdd won't spin up.

the model is WD1200JB-32EVAO and is an EIDE drive

i sure hope that i won't have to do a platter swap :(

For a platter swap, I hope you have a clean room.

And yeah, that model of drive is absolute s***.

A coworker had a drive that died the exact same way, PCB gets toasty, refuses to spin. Luckily he had it all backed up. I'd offer it to ya, but I bet hes thrown it away by now, and then it also has the same problem. o.o'
