PAiA.com preamp kits

Just wondering if anyone here has ever tried to build anything from PAiA (http://www.paia.com) . I have been eyeing the tube pre-amps they have to add to my new Mac/Recording setup and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the kits.

Also, I know that tube-pres can be bought for around the same price, I was just interested in the experience of building one on my own.

So if anyone has built or knows someone who has built one, let me know.

my very first synthesizer was a PAiA kit. got it sometime in the late 70s. no keyboard, it had a ribbon controller and a trigger button.

fun to play w/, but not very useful musically. think i still have it around, somewhere.
