I have a inherited a 12 powerbook G4. I put this on as feeler/for sale because i originally intended to restore it and sell it. But i think that if i do that it won't sell for too much more that what it would sell for now due to the processor speed. So i wanted to see what i can get for it.

867 mhz G4 Processor
Currently it has 256 ram ( that can be upgraded to a gig more = 1.256gb)
an 80 gb hd
It has a combo drive, but it needs replacing.
It holds a full charge and the battery lasts about 2.5-3 hrs
Wifi ready but no card, but does have BT
No dead pixels.
No box, but it does have the just the charge and the computer

The computer runs fine. The only damage is cosmetic, and the cd drive. The top portions is fine but there are scratches on one of the palm rests, and on the bottom case. The computer runs fine, and so does the cd drive in term of reading but it has a problem ejecting it.

I was planning on an intense overhaul, making the specs like so:

Replaceing the case where it is worn, basically the bottom
installing a superdrive,
120 gb hd 5400 rpm
AE card
1.25 GB Ram

I want to know what i could expect for both situations and if there are any takers. Either way i plan on selling it.

I have the same exact computer and am anxious to see what offers you get. I think these still pull $400 on ebay, but it's been awhile since I've checked. I was thinking about letting it go outright or doing some serious upgrades like you're talking about.

good luck with your sale, I like the machine so far, but my 1.22ibook gets the job done as well...

with it in it's current state, you might fetch $300-$350 but if you were to refurb it yourself. look to get $500-$600. but by the time you purchase all the stuff to upgrade and repair it, you probably won't make any money.
