I think thats pretty fair, i have a similar macbook and if i were to sell it i would probably do $600 depending on how close a friend it is :D

There's 2 factors to consider:
1. If you sell your MacBook, will any of the money go towards the purchase of your new MBA to ease your finance/purchase? If yes, sell it for more, maybe at like $850, its all up to you.
Or..
2. Are you just a nice person who is willing to sell it cheap to a friend so its easier on their finance/purchase? Will conscience play a role?
To be honest, it doesn't matter how much you sell it for. As long as both party agrees to the price, it is "reasonable" considering the fact that your friend is paying less than retail.
Let your friend offer first, because from my understanding, you've already set a bottom line, which is $650. See how much you friend is willing to pay, and from there, negotiate to as close to $650 as you can get if he/she decides to lowball you.
Thats my 2 cent..

I personally keep all my products in tip top condition cosmetically because i KNOW i am going to get the latest and greatest.
usually I will auction it on ebay and my stuff gets a LOT of bids. I think the secret, or what i do is take SUPER clear, high quality pictures, from every angle to show how freaking well kept the product is. tell them how it is "barely used" and offer a low price and tell them you will ship the exact day payment is received.
the key is LOTS of pictures, and including the receipt is always good even if its not under warranty anymore...its good assurance. i am fairly confident you can garner $1000+
on the contrary, if your MB looks like a beat up hunk of junk, discard this advice.

Sorry..."price check" threads are limited to the Marketplace forum, and you must have 100 posts to start a thread there in order to have established a reputation and familiarity here. We've had too many people trying to "beat the system" by starting price check threads elsewhere that evolve into "for sale" threads.
