Evidently, some folks in Fiji want to apologize and have extended an
invitation (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/3190330.stm)
to the UK'ers. Now, is this going to be a diner party? Hmmm....

Why should they apologise?

An apology better late than never. Something must have precipitated their kindness. Wonder what will be on the menu?

Maybe they will do a nice lethal injection 1st this time! :p

Seriously though I imagine that the local food would be delicious.

didn't anyone read the article?

they're doing it because the current villagers think that they're suffering from a curse of one of their ancestors....so this is as good as anything to 'lift' that curse.

I've been to Fiji twice, its a great place. I would love to have been given the invite....;)

Uh-huh, sure, I can hear it now...
"Well, it turns out that we just need you to step into this pot of water..you know...to recreate the scene...don't worry -- it's all part of lifting the curse...you can leave your boots over there...that's good...what's that?...well, I guess I don't know who put all those carrots and celery in the bottom...but no need to worry...."

I remember a comedy album by Michael Flanders and Donald Swann that my parents had. One of the tracks was called "The Reluctant Cannibal", about "Junior", the son of the tribe's "chief assistant to the assistant chief". Junior refused to eat his "roast leg of insurance salesman", saying that eating people is wrong. Everyone thought he was a nut case. Very funny. Here's a review (http://fish.netexpress.net/view/B000006T4S) that mentions it.

I could make a joke about sausage right now, but it would probably be in bad taste...
