does this really mean you can go back and re watch it? doesn't it delete itself after the 24 hours?

I can't believe they missed that, it's the oldest trick in the book!

P.S. iCantwait - in your sexist sig, you try to make it sound that you aren't sexist. Only there is a typo so you've ended up saying you're 'anti women'.
Classy.

:p, this is funny, does this trick still work with some programs that normally cost money??

Only I saw a thread yesterday documenting this exact thing. If only I could be bothered to go find it, i'd post a link. ;)

Haha just read the reason for editing on the OP's first post. 'because i rock' . Oh dear.

Well it's a good thing you posted a thread about it. Now Apple will be aware the issue exists and will issue an update making it so you can't do that anymore. So good job.

Actually, TUAW posted an article detailing this very same thing two days ago - I'm sure apple is aware.

This doesn't work. Granted if you take the time back it does say you actually have longer till it expires but as soon as you try and play it it doesn't work. Only when you put your clock back to the right day/time will it actually play.

I put mine back to 2000 pressed play and got an iTunes store error, put it back to current time and plays fine. Im glad Apple didn't miss that because I am all for rentals and I seriously hope they are a success. Rented my first film last night and its a great service. Yes its ncie to keep things, and certain films I will still buy over rent if its available but to have films on demand and have them start instantly is just amazing.

the question will be, how will they get people to install the software update?

This just proves that Apple does thinks these things out before they release them. Remember they are not Microsoft. :D

If you set your clock to the future. Rent the film then set your clock back to correct time does that give you a few extra days? ;)

But what happens if you try to put your computer back to a time during your rental period, not a time pre the stores existence?

It only works for a period of time (in Gizmodo's case—hours), then the file requires authentication from Apple's servers for playback.

Since this doesn't work, this thread no longer serves any purpose.
