AP -- CUPERTINO, CA Developers at Apple Computer Corporation (NASD: AAPL) have announced what is alternatively being described as a storage breakthrough and a storage nightmare. "We're not sure what to make of this," said nanotechnology development expert Shane MacGowan. MacGowan continued, "We seem to have developed what could be called a 'storage singularity' or a 'black hole' hard drive -- for better or worse. While these ultra-dense storage solutions seem to have the ability to store far more data than they should -- petabytes of storage on a gigabyte-sized drive -- they have the down side of a black hole as well, uncontrollably sucking all storage areas on their network into one large RAID volume. If this technology got into the wrong hands, well, who knows what could happen." Although most prototype drives have been kept under tight security by Apple, one drive is unaccounted for. Rumors have spread that it may have worked its way into the production line, and while Bill Gates of Microsoft has called for a recall of all Apple computers, Apple management has stated that no such recall was being issued. "Have you lost your mind?" was the only word from Steve Jobs, who was also heard to comment that Gates had called him privately, admitting that the Microsoft XP operating system could not possibly be patched to secure it against an Apple 'black-hole drive' exposure. MacGowan was seen leaving the laboratory in Cupertino, stating that he was going "where streams of whiskey are flowing". AP
