Toast 5.1.2 does not recognize my internal Apple installed DVD-Ram (Ma****a LF-D211A, Type 2) when I want to write a DVD. It does find my scsi CDRW drive and I can write CD's just fine. I want write to a Type 2 DVD disk. Even when I make it rescan it can't find it. Instead, I get a message "No CD Recorder found, check cables and power". Running 10.1.4 on a G4 tower.

try updating to 5.1.3 (http://www.roxio.com/toastosx/index.jhtml)

scroll to the bottom, select you connection, and just follow the links.

I don't know if that will help, but it sure can't hurt.

actually it is. In the file menu, there's an option for writing to DVD-RAM. You can only do this with apple-installed DVD-RAM drives.

Thanks britboy. I was told by good sources I could burn a Type 2 DVD-ram disk, then disassemble the plastic casing, then play in most dvd players. I'll update to 5.1.3 and give it another try.
Regards.

Thanks again. I updated to Toast 5.1.3
Under File chose "Burn to DVD-Ram" and it worked.
One question though. Exporting out of iMovie with the intention of a DVD Toast burn, what is the best choice of format?
"For iDVD"
or "To Quicktime" with Full Quality. Can I create a DVD from a file that has a *.mov name?
Regards
