Question,
I have a 17" MacBook Pro
2.16GHZ Core Duo
2GB Ram
120GB Drive
256 x1600
SuperDrive
Great Machine, has a couple of scratches, two dents on corners to the right of the machine. Hardware is great and has AppleCare till 2009.
What is this Machine worth? Let me know. I really would love a MacBook Air, or a MacBook as I don't need the power of the MacBook pro, nor do I need the 17" Screen everyday.
Let me know what ya'll think.

I'd guess it's probably worth about $1650-$1850, depending on where it's sold, but I could be off, as I was on the last price estimate I tried. Anyway, if you're thinking about a MacBook, and are thinking of trading, I've got a black 2.0GHz MacBook Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, AppleCare until June/July 2009 that I've been thinking of trading/selling for a larger MacBook Pro. If you'd be interested, let me know and we can see if we can work something out. If not, no worries.

Not an ice cubes chance in hell. I think $1300 is a high estimate. Its a scratched, dented Core Duo macbook pro. Thats first gen stuff...

that is a harsh, but true analogy.
I would also like to point out that dents in the macbook pro probably void the applecare.
If any problem arises, apple could simply say that the problem is due to abuse, and therefore not covered.
i bought extended applecare for my macbook pro, but i refuse to activate it until the last possible second. If my macbook is dented, then i consider the warranty to be void and i'd rather resell my $350 warranty

This should give you a good indication.

Cool. Mac2Sell says $1420. Does that sound fair to you guys?
I am either going to sell it and get a MacBook, or an iMac. Or trade for one.

Someone on another forum was selling one of these for ~$1400 and it wasn't selling. Good Luck

mac2sell isn't an accurate benchmark, in my opinion.
ebay (search for completed auctions) tells you about ACTUAL transactions that take place. this is especially useful in your situation since the macbook pro is dented.
i would say ebay is the way to get the most, although you may be a target for scams (as a buyer AND seller).
macrumors buyers can have a reputation for being lowballers, sometimes to the extent that i don't believe that they would make such an offer if they had to look the sellers in the eye.
i'd say a reasonable price for macrumors buyers is about 10% off of the ebay value. ebay+paypal fees are close to 10% of a transaction price.

No Mac2Sell type site EVER gives an accurate listing. It will give you a +/- $500 ballpark.
Depending on the scratches' severity, $1000-$1200 at best.

+/- $500 is a BIG ballpark. if you're talking about a $1500 machine, it's a 30% swing in either direction.
it isn't scratches that is the problem. It is DENTS.
keep in mind that the value will drop even more whenever the Penryn MBP comes out, which could be within the next 2 weeks if you believe the rumor websites.
Since your machine, there has been:
2.16ghz Core 2 Duo
2.4ghz Core 2 Duo with Santa Rosa Chipset with 1920x1200 screen and 250gb 4200rpm
2.6ghz Core 2 Duo with 250gb 5400rpm
