Take a look at this article, in particular the part about mis-aligned power supply grills.

My dual 1ghz tower has always be quiet noisy (by mac standards). Guess what, my power suply is definatly out of sync with the outer grill! Do you think its worth trying to correct this problem??
Thanks

I would look into getting water cooling its dead quiet and much better that any kind of cooling (for a price, I know that Liquid Nitrogen is better but its too expensive)
I want to get water cooling for my G4 and get rid of the fans but I am never going to get insider the power supply!

It's worth it for the noise reduction, but it's not worth it if it voids your warranty.
Micro-Solutions offers a smaller heatsink to quiet down the large heatsink/fan combo as well, with a copper base.

I just did it. My QuickSilver 933 is faaaaaaaaaaaar quieter. Brilliant. Pretty quick and simple, too.
