ok...it's been alive for nearly 2 weeks now...some of u are tired of it & some aren't... :o

it's not even about anything anymore...mostly talking about how damned long the thing is...

has this become a fixture here at macrumors or should we kill it off??

(btw...u have just one week to vote...so let's do it!:p)

I say kill it. But I really don't mind. I haven't looked at it for ages... I don't feel compelled to look at a thread just because it's there (unlike some people ;)).

I tend to lose interest in a thread once it gets more than a couple of pages long. They always lose track of the topic, so I just don't bother any more.

I think we've established that no one is going to give him what he wants. The thread really doesn't serve it's original purpose anymore.

Don't worry, it will live on in our hearts and in our minds (whether we want it to or not).

it has a certain aura of " reality based programming" to it.

travis can keep us up to date with his parental conflicts and resolutions.
( of course, he'll have the fine advice from the macrumours staff)

he'll give us the play by play of his future college activities-including the incoherent inebriated ramblings about some unrequited love....

he'll ask for a new laptop every year...he just can't go back to class with THAT old thing.......

gosh, the entertainment possibilities are just endless.

more, more give me more.:D

KILL IT! We (all of the regulars) have posted on the thread. We have all made suggestions to the kid on how to get what he needed either from his parents, working, or through the 20 Bucks that I offered to put up for him. Anyway, he isn't going to get a PowerBook from anyone so lets end it. Also, I found it rather odd that Eye offered an older Mac, and he said no. Hell, take it and sell it and try to buy an old PowerBook from Refurb Madness. Anyway, just kill the thread.

I like Travis... good band. Good songs. Just a tad acoustic-y for my taste, but they still sure as hell beat NSYNC.

I vote to kill it too. As a person neither kind nor generous, I feel left out.

I say kill it. It's run on long enough, any intelligent comment that was going to be made has been made, and it's just trailed off into ludicrousness.

Please, put it out of its suffering....

Strangely enough, it's not really our thread to kill. Travis started it with the hope of getting us to give him a computer. Lots of people have read it, and becaus it is so big, lots more people will probably hear of it. The longer it gets, and the longer it stays around, the more chance Travis has of getting a computer.

That being said, it isn't really up to us, rather if Travis says kill it, then fine.

Free speech vs bandwith?

KILL IT!! KILL IT DEAD!!! LMAO!!!

As for those claiming that only Travis can end it, I believe that both arn, and eyelikeart have powers of life and death over threads here. Any that are determined to deserve to die, can be killed by them.

ehh who cares really

if someone for some reason posts in it in the future, then it must be for some reason... and no one has to read it.

no reason to delete it unless the mods think it's necessary.

Let's discuss it for at least two weeks, giving post count weenies another place to post worthless messages about charity & morality (but not about Macs, or rumors)...no wait, that's the first thread.

C'mon, close the thread...it was replied to (200 odd times), and is done.

This thread should be closed as well.

why is someone a post count weeny for discussing morality or any non mac issue?

that is what the general discussion is for. you do not have to read it if you are not interested. simple as that.
