View Full Version : Mystery package from -- Apple?

Feb 4, 2008, 03:52 PM
I recently purchased and received my custom Macbook from Apple. It's amazing. Soon after the package arrived, another package arrived -- it was my AppleCare package -- as expected.

This afternoon my mother notified me of another package -- from an unknown source -- which nobody was home to sign for. The driver left a tag, with a tracking number. I checked the tracking number to find another package from Shanghai, CN. It apparently sent some great deal of time in CN before making it across the pond to the Int'l shipment release and then to my local delivery location.

It should arrive tomorrow. What should I expect? I didn't order anyting from Apple -- even though I really want to order an iMac...

Has this happened to anyone before?

I know -- I'm stumped. Maybe it's a present!!!

Whatever it is, it spent a while in Shanghai...

Oh, that would be an 8800 GT card. You see, you get one free with the purchase of each MacBook, and are obviously entitled to get it before any of the Mac Pro users.

Huh. Check your credit card history; you might have accidentally bought a Cinema Display or some other high-priced thing. Keep us posted, and if it's an Apple product, KEEP IT!

Why the heck is Steve Jobs sending me these? Must be a new promotion???

Thief-in-a-box.

It's a new crime wave. They pack themselves into boxes going to the same place as the stuff they want to steal, get let into the house as a package so it's not breaking and entering, grab the item, and walk out the front door.

Make sure that you mark it as 'not checked' incase you need to return him or her. ;)

My first thought, when he said pearl earrings, was the postal scams where a company ships you a product with a bill and insists it gets paid within 30 days or whatever.

If you don't pay, they just send you something else the next month with an updated bill.

After about 90 days, they start threatening your credit for non-payment.
