So my parents are wanting to upgrade from their 1Ghz, 512 MB eMac, but aren't wanting to pay $1300 (after RAM upgrades) for a new iMac.

I've been in love with the "new" Al iMacs since they've been released and have seriously considered getting one and selling my current iMac. I think it makes sense to sell my old one to my parents, but I'm wondering what a fair price would be.

It's a 20" Core 2 Duo, 2.16 Ghz processor, with 250 GB HDD and 2 GB of RAM running Leopard, iLife '08 and iWork '08 with a wireless keyboard and wireless Mighty Mouse. I bought it in December of 2006 and have AppleCare on it.

Remember this is my parents, so I'm not looking to "make money" off this transfer, just trying to get an outside opinion on a fair price.

Thanks for your suggestions!

The thing is that even that machine is stacked. On Apple's refurbished web page they list similar machines for $1000 even. Which is odd considering the base price of the new Aluminum iMac 20'' is only $100 more.

You could part with your iMac for about $750 to your parents. They'll be getting a well loaded machine.

Price feelers need to be placed within the Marketplace forum.

I'll move this thread there now..

I agree even $950 would be fair.

It's $1099 for your iMac (not including the RAM upgrade). So about $1000.

EDIT:
I did forget about Applecare. $1050 is fair.

you also have applecare. how many years are left on that, 1 or 2? That's about a $100 per year.

$1000 is a pretty fair price though.
