I have no idea if there is a market for things like this, but I have an iBook (mid-2005) that stopped booting after an iTunes/Quicktime update. When booting I would hear the startup chime and the hard drive would spin up, but I would get nothing on the screen.

No Applecare, so I ended up buying a refurb Macbook as a replacement.

Make me an offer or let me know if you have any more questions.

Update: Following the advice of techound1, I discovered that it was the Airport/Bluetooth module that was causing problems. After removing the module. The computer works perfectly again.

I am willing to replace the module before selling, or sell the computer without AP/BT.

Here are the specs:

12" display
1.33 Ghz G4
512 MB RAM
40 GB Hard Drive
Combo Drive
Mac OS X 10.4

I also have the original box and packaging.

Offers?

Try taking out a stick of ram. Try one at a time.. that might be the problem. A PMU reset also might help. then hopefully you can sell this as working.

Nothing on external display either?

Is this a 12incher?

Sounds like something odd is up.

try pressing down on the left side palm rest in various spots while starting it up. sounds like a loose graphics chip. don't worry this is sadly a common problem.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately there is no added RAM to remove.
I did try plugging it in to my external display and got the same thing. Chime, hard drive spins up. No video.

I also tried some of the startup keys options on Apple's website like PRAM and PMU reset. Didn't seem to work, I never got the extra chimes on the PRAM reset.

Would I be better off just selling as parts because I don't know what the issue is?

Not unless you know what the issue is so you could advertise the condition of the parts being sold.

I just repaired one - same model, same symptoms. Turns out the AP/BT card was screwy. When I removed it, cleared the PRAM, and reset the PMU it kicked right back to life. When I plugged the card back in, it fell back into its former state. I taped off the contacts on the card, did all the resets, and I was back in biz. The AP part of the module doesn't work, but the BT does. Give it a spin - it'll make $400 worth of difference selling it.

The computer is now working great. Please see the edit to the original post.

For anybody that wants to pick this up, the modules can be had for $30 at applecomponents.com or in the $20 range on fleabay if you're patient.

What kind of price were you looking to get?

probably worth around $450-500 range. could be a little more if it had more memory and the bt/apx module.

Thanks guy,
This was the price range I was imagining. I am looking into getting the airport/bluetooth module replaced, so that should help as well.

I've received quite a few PMs on this and when I decide to sell I will contact the earliest responders first.

Thanks everyone for looking.

Would you consider trading for a Mac mini 1.42 Ghz G4 setup?
