Hello!

My brother want's to know how much he could get for his iMac g5.

Specs are: 2.0ghz, 20" screen, 1gb ram, 128mb radeon ATI 9600, 250gb HD and it would include the keyboard and Mighty Mouse and Apple care. The screen is absolutely beautiful! Now these are known for problems and this one has a few, when it gets to hot (200ºF) it automatically goes to sleep. Problem 2: He can't put it to sleep because it doesn't really go to sleep, it still gets hot and sucks power, so he shuts it down when he's done using it.

Otherwise... everything is in pristine condition, it has Mac os 10.4.?, bought it in 2005 and it had apple care but I think that's expired. I think he could get $400 for it but what do you guys think?

You could push $700 for it.

EDIT: Oh, the heat issues, they would take it down more to the $500 area.

i think 400 seems fair. this is a powerpc processor and the troubling heat issue sort of cripples the system. most people leave their computers on overnight...

Regarding this comment, i own this same exact computer, except with 1.5gb ram, and it has never ever had a problem. No heating issues, or anything. Its an awesome computer. And we leave ours on all the time.
edit: oh, i just realized you specifically say yours has a heat issue. Hm, maybe take it to get an analysis done, and try to get it fixed?

Yeah not all of these have problems. I think he has a few days of apple care left but he wants one of those new ugly iMac.
