Well, now that I'm the proud owner of a nice new 24" iMac, I have no need for my old machine any more. Just wondering what people here think I might be able to get for it, or for that matter if anyone would be interested in making an offer.

Here are the specs:

1.25 GHz G4 iMac
17" LCD
1 GB RAM
160 GB HDD
Superdrive
OS X 10.3 Panther
Wired Apple Mouse & Keyboard
Harmon Kardon Crystal Orb Speakers

The machine still works great other than the Superdrive, which on occasion spits out burned media. Normal media is fine, but every once and a while a burned data disc would get spit out and it would take a second or third try to get it recognized and mounted. Other than that minor annoyance, no problems at all.

Let me know - thanks in advance. :)

I feel like mac2sell always quotes really high. On here you can get $350-$400 max.

If you want the highest possible amount, most here will back me up, try Craiglist or eBay. Not sure where you are, but these are great options if available to you. Just poke around on them and you'll get a good idea of the going prices.

I plugged your information into the US section of Mac2sell and got this valuation:

"Your Computer is a PowerBook 17 inch G4 1.25 GHz 1028/160 GB/superdrive
The Mac2Sell Quoted Value of your computer is : $ 890"

$890 is high, but some love the old Powerbooks. I'm considering a 15" (in the $350-$400 range Bobjob186 mentioned). However, I agree with zirkle2007. You will find plenty of sales in the $700-$900 range. Condition, dents, battery, OS (with disks), original box, and lower ram slot status will drive your price up/down.

Good to know, thanks.

I'm in Canada, so utilizing those sites is no problem for me. I was planning on selling it on eBay (or here I suppose of there was any interest) but obviously just wanted to get a feeling for how much it might be worth first of all.

Then you plugged my information in wrong since I have an iMac, not a PowerBook. :p ;)

I am clearly an idiot! My functional/idiot ratio does increase with my morning coffee. Sipping java now as I grovel.

Haha, no worries, I appreciate the effort at least. ;) :)
