Why do people text messages? What is wrong with just leaving a verbal message on an answering machine? lol

Seriously, some of these new gadgets are silly. I think people get so caught-up in the hype, that they don't even stop to think about how ludicrous some of them are.

They just follow the party-line like a bunch of slaves. Human's tend to have a herd/slave mentality. They just blindly follow the crowd.

You can use it to have a conversation when you want to be quiet like in a library,or you can use it to have a conversation when the surroundings are too loud, like at a concert. It is the same thing as sending an e-mail instead of talking on a phone. They are just different means of communication.

Text messages provide a quick and easy way to send a message to someone who may not be able to check voice mail so easily. Text messages often come through when signal is weak (I can attest to this). Text messages are great when you want to say something that you'd like other people not to hear. Text messages are fun when drinking. It's not meant to replace beer pong or the similar drinking games, but it is still fun all the same. More importantly, to ask why text message is like asking "why e-mail"?

exactly! ... and, if you don't feeling like going through the social part of the conversation, but just want info.. a text is great! ...

but being in a band, theres few times at night when i would be able to hear the person on the phone, and a text works out great!

i hate the phone, texting is so much more convenient. even more than the phone, i hate voicemail. i can't get sprint to remove it from my phone without removing it from the other phones on the plan though.

i hate the phone, texting is so much more convenient. even more than the phone, i hate voicemail. i can't get sprint to remove it from my phone without removing it from the other phones on the plan though.

But why do you hate the phone? What are you afraid of? What are you hiding from?

I believe there is an inner psychological issue at work here.

I really want to understand. Seriously. This is fascinating to me how the human mind works. Please tell me how texting is more convenient. Sitting there typing and looking for each letter to type is superior then just opening your damn mouth like you were made to do? Texting is impersonal and ludicrous. Use an answering machine. All a person has to do is check their answering machine to hear a message.

The comments above only go to prove my initial theory that people have a herd/slave mentality. They just follow the crowd without even stopping to think how ludicrous their actions are.

I believe there is subliminal programmig at work in some of these technologies and companies. They make so much hype about something, giving the illusion that it is important. People get caught-up like slaves in the hype, then run after it like a bunch of brainless zombies.


Another thing, you don't have to always be talking to people lol.

I also believe people are literally terrified of being alone. They have to always be communicating with other people because the thought of being alone is horrifying to them. If they are alone, they might actually find out who they really are. People always need noise and communcation because they are afraid of hearing their inner voices. They need all these distractions like drugs to ease their inner pain and fears. YOU DON'T NEED TO ALWAYS BE TALKING.

Just enjoy being alone for a change. But if you need to talk, use a phone, leave a message if no one is there.

I'm trying to help you and free you from the slave mentality and the addictions to technology.

Free yourself from these ludicrous technologies before it is too late. Don't lose your mind. Think about where society is going.

My main point is that texting is stupid because

1. we have voices for communication.
2. we have a thing called answering machines.

Your phone company can give you an answering machine with your plan. All you have to do is dial a code and retrieve your messages. It is normal and easier. Texting is ludicrous.

Typing should be used as a last option and only when necessary. Such as I am doing now.

That's the slave mind talking. If you don't want to hear the phone, turn down the volume. You can check verbal messages by your phone by picking it up and hearing a beep sound that notifies you when you have a message.

you really do sound ridiculous. texting can be a bit much at times, but other times it makes much more sense and is much more convenient than a phone call. it is absurd that you think that there is no "good" to texting. you are just trying to make yourself feel like you are better than everybody else because you are rejecting what many others willingly accept. you think that you are thinking so far "out of the box" here by not "following the herd", when all you are really doing is being closed minded. can you really not put yourself in the position of the people that have posted above? do you really believe what the others have said is wrong? or is it that you just close your mind off from what they are saying because you dont want to "follow the herd". are you so insecure that you have to start this tread to make a feeble attempt at making yourself look so superior than everyone else because you are taking a stand against the "herd"? what did you really think when making this tread.. that you were going to enlighten people to the fact that "texting is illogical" and they were really going to change their ways? now that would be illogical...
