Not enough space for File Vault

It would seem that I have too much in my Home folder for File Vault to work (about 11gig). You need at least the same amount of space again to turn it on.

Ideally I'd like to move some apps etc. To free some space up.

Where is the best place to keep Office etc? In your Home folder? Or should I move?

What do all of you keep in your home folder? All of your music, photos etc?

You shouldn't ever store apps that you want people to have common access to in your Home folder. They should always go in the main "Applications" folder on the HD. Less confusing that way too.
