YES, PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS COMPATIBLE.

I did try to put it in my Compaq laptop, and that needs 2700 as well and didn't work.

This chip will NOT "throttle up" to the next speed.

That is why I checked everymac.com right after I posted. It sucks, I just sold an old ibook with a 2700 chip in it. I could have taken 2100.
