Just purchased the latest black macbook online. Didn't realize it doesn't come with the apple remote like the previous model.

I know they aren't expensive to buy in addition, but does anyone here have one that they don't use that they would be willing to give me for free? Please PM me if you do. Thanks!

I'm assuming you didn't buy it from apple. If you had, you would have noticed that it was a $20 option.

This has been beaten to death. Either complain to Apple or buy one. They are only $19.

interesting that they would include it with some computers but not all... $20 is alot for such limited functionality.

I purchased my macbook from amazon.

Andrewdale, where would you be mailing it from? Honestly kinda hoping someone will send me one for free. I can't imagine it would cost much to throw one in a bubble wrapped envelope and send it as cheaply as possible. Probably cost you 2 dollars total which would include the envelope and postage.

Nothing personal. BUT, it's truly amazing that one can buy a $1,500 MacBook and yet go begging for a $19 remote! Dude, just order one from apple. I mean this is not a welfare forum!

Haha. No, I deserve the ribbing.

It's more the principle than not wanting to spend $20 more dollars. I assumed it came with, and I wanted to see if anyone on here had one they never use and would be nice enough to give me. That's all. :)

Someone posted a possible way to score a free one in another thread:

But since he bought it from Amazon good luck with that.

Amazon's posting on the MacBook are as follows:

What's in the Box
MacBook, 60W MagSafe Power Adapter, AC wall plug, and power cord, lithium-polymer battery, install/restore DVDs, printed and electronic documentation.

No remote listed.

However, the link provided does lead to something that can be read 2 ways. If they want to eliminate this they either need to change the wording in the posted link to "with OPTIONAL remote" or just start giving the remote back so ppl will stop complaining.

What you need to do is check the sticker next to the handle or on the side. If it's supposed to have one it will say "Front row + Apple Remote" (like both my Macs) if not, it won't be there. THEN you can claim your missing something. If the remotes not listed in the packing on the box, well, then it's NOT SUPPOSED TO COME WITH ONE.

I agree with you.

The guy was nice enough to send you one and you won't even pay for shipping? You're pathetic. And you're talking about principle. Sad...

Please don't solicit people to sell / send you things, even for free, outside the marketplace forum....
