Hmm...I just got back from my local bose store about 45 min ago and they had your speakers for $100. I bought the Companion 5 multimedia speaker system for $329 refurbished. Which as far as I can tell is brand new (they sound great by the way). They also had the Companion 3 system for $199 refurbished .

What you saw were the Companion II series as shown here: Companion II's (http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_STATIC_PAGE_EVENT&url=/home_entertainment/computer_gaming/companion_2/index.jsp). Very big difference beyond the price. If you did see these for $99, I'd buy up as many sets as you can, they sell for well over $300 on eBay without a problem. :-)

It's possible they did not have the MediaMonitor's, they are still a fairly new system, utilize a pretty unique design which give them substantial low end for a 4 inch high speaker... :)

Congrats on the Companion 5's, they do sound nice.

Just so there is no confusion:
