Any truth to what I've read that Panther toys with the L2 Cache so as to actually slow the CPU benchmark a little bit on g4s (I realize that overall there is a gain). What exactly does this entail? Does L2 Cache speed become somehow less of an issue under Panther, and if so, what seperates a 1ghz ibook from Pbook then?

I read something about this on Hardmac. I'm not having an issues on my TiBook.

If you install the Xcode developer tools, including the optional "CHUD" piece, you'll end up with an new Preference item titled "Hardware". If you select it, it shows your cpu frequency and various processor cache settings. On my TiBook, both L2 and L3 cache have selections available, which basically amount to "No cache" or the amount of cache you actually have.

So, install the above and make sure your cache(s) is/are turned on.
