Hello all, i am on a mission to hunt down a 17" mac laptop for my grandparents. After a recent visit, my family decided that something had to be done about their aging 700mhz iBook g3 12." So, i come to a community where i have seen similar situations to ask for reasonable deals on 17" laptops. Speed/ram/hd aren't really an issue as anything will be a step up for my grandparents. Sure i would love to plunk down $2500 on a brand spankin' new MBP, but i think that might be a bit extraneous. Im just looking for a 17" mac laptop for email, web and light photo browsing for a reasonable price.

Thanks

Refurbs at the Apple Store have been as low as $1899 this week. There are none that low on there now. However each morning I check and they are there more often than not.

I have a 17" MBP available that is in perfect shape and has barely been used. Just make an offer because I haven't totally decided on a price yet. Thanks!

I have a 17inch that I was actually getting ready to put on eBay. I just got a new MacBook Air for traveling. The 17inch is was purchased refurbished in February. It was the last model (2.4ghz)

You could probably find a great deal on a 17" PowerBook G4 on craigslist. I've seen them around $800-$900 in my area (Los Angeles). Not sure if you prefer Intel vs. PPC though.

like i said, processor speed and other system specs are not a big deal. I am really just looking for the cheapest fully functional 17" powerbook/mbp i can find in a reasonably short amount of time.

Thanks
