I am thinking of selling my Santa Rosa Macbook Pro as I no longer travel and can do just fine with the Mac Pro at home for now.

The machine is in very good condition - looks and works like new. It comes with the Tiger 10.4.10 DVD and Leopard 10.5 Retail DVD that I purchased separately. It was bought from Apple store online and has AppleCare until Aug 2010. I can ship it with the original package.

I've never had any kind of problems with this computer.

Just want to get a feeler as to how much people would be willing to pay for it.

Thanks in advance.

That would be less than what I consider a fair price - thanks for asking though :)

$1600-$1900 would be a fairly reasonable expectation.

the 2.2 MBP goes for $1449 on the refurb

Applecare: $239 via discount

Extra ram: $100

deduct %10 for depreciation and you're a little over $1600.

And that's probably a fair guesstimate of what a macrumors member would want to pay.

ebay will most likely yield you a higher selling price which would be more in line w/ the $1900 given that they're not as savvy when it comes to Apple related discounts and they look more at the retail price as a measurement for cost.

The refurbished price you quote - the hard disk on it is 120Gb, mine is 160Gb.

Mine has Apple fitted 4Gb RAM - buyer would not have to bother removing the third party RAM if some thing goes wrong and they need to send it to Applecare support. I know RAM is RAM but factory fitted has some advantages and it cost me more money than 100$.

Also AppleCare on reliable source like Amazon is 300$ - not sure which discount you are referring to - but that's ok - the $239 you quote is ok for the 2 years 4 months this one has left on it.

my apologies for not factoring in the upgraded hdd. $239 is the edu/gov discount given by apple. While not everyone is eligible for it, most macrumors members use it as a comparison.

None of it was meant to be derogatory, just my personal observation in how macrumors members tend to judge what they are willing to pay when it comes to used apple hardware. I you're looking for something along the lines of $2k I would definitely recommend, in addition to MR, trying ebay or craigslist. Best of luck!

Eh... better take it to ebay then. Won't get close to that here... Look what you're up against just through Apple.com alone:

Add $100 for RAM... Plus $200 for Applecare... Subtract the fact that it's used... $2000 is just too much

ebay you have a much better chance of getting what you are looking for! Trust me, people on there will spend anything for Apple products. Here on MR you have people that do their homework.

Hey no problems - thanks for the insight, I will try both MR and EBay as I really do not _need_ to sell it at any price and can wait for the right price.
