I'm doing a paper for English on why Macs are most cost effective to run in schools over PCs, I have seen many posts to links for these arguements, so could anyone repost the links in this thread so I can use them for my paper, I need the repair stats that I've seen in these articles, any help would be great!
My English teacher is pro PC so I want to do a good job!

that one would be a great one to quote within your paper. An actual percentage!

That one is like the one above but with a lot more info. Good stuff.

Wasn't there also a guy in the carolinas who put up a big fight to keep the districts macs, and he made a big web page with all a lot of good facts and studies, does anyone know the URL for it?

Great idea for a paper! I wish I could read the finished project.
Our school district has gone almost completely Mac, and it's heaven. I work for a local educational foundation that has been largely responsible for the funding of those computers, and feel that I've definitely been a driving force there! In fact, since the kids were all learning Macs, the district started an adult ed class for the parents, so they could keep up with their kids. (I taught that class. It was fun to bring converts into the light, so to speak!);) That was before System X was introduced. Everyone is so well versed in Macs now, that they don't need the class anymore. Fine with me. I'm obsolete for a good reason! LOL!

Yeah, I remember that site, but I think it might be a bit outdated.

..ask a silly question...
I'm sure of at least 2 governmental agencies that have gone from Mac to PC, and back to Mac - Let me gather the facts and I'll dig-em (urls) up for you.

I'm a student employee at new mexico state university. Last year i was a computer tech for the math department, and this year i'm a computer tech for the college of business.
about 80% of every tech's work is running microsoft update on all of the computers to minimize the threat of hacking and viruses, and making sure all of the virus software is up to date. I'd be willing to bet that the amount of money my university spends on security and viruses is in the millions. They'd save so much time and money if the entire campus switched to mac, mainly in wages. They wouldn't have to hire nearly as many people to maintain a mac-only campus.
But hey, i can't complain. Microsoft's poor software engineering is keeping me employed!

Yes, John Droz' site is widely used, but it hasn't been updated in a while. For hard data regarding cost effectiveness (known as ROI, or Return On Investment) follow the latest information on the aforementioned link at MacInTouch previously posted.

You can always e-mail Mr. Droz himself, or wait for the next promised revsion date of the site, scheduled for December.

macs in a group for schools or work often do not require an IT department or tech
PCs are more complicated and at least require a tech on the books or one to come out to fix things...at a very high cost
