Hi Guys,

I am not necessarily looking to sell my ibook on these forums as I have somene who is possibly interested, I just wanted to get feedback on what sort of price I can expect to get for it.

The machine is in perfect working order and was bought about 2 months before they stopped making them, I still have the box in mint condition too.

Its a..

iBook G4
12" Screen
1.33ghz Processor
1.5gb ram
30gb HD

I was thinking £400?

Any opinions more than welcome.
Thanks

Hi,
I'd say £400 is a bit on the high side but somewhere around £350 should be possible. If you look on ebay you will see them selling for this sort of money quite often. It's a shame your hard disk isn't a bit bigger - that might put some people off. Not the easiest to upgrade unless you are technically savvy but possible - an 80GB disk would cost you £35 or so and would make the machine much more desirable and may attract closer to £400.

Good luck,
Craig.

If you have a 30 gig original hard drive in there, it is not a 1.33ghz iBook which came with a 40gb original hard drive. 30 gb came with the previous version, 1.2ghz; unless you swapped hard drives?

There is a quite a difference between the 1.2ghz 12" iBook and the 1.33ghz. Bluetooth 2.0/scrolling trackpad/more ram/motion sensor on hard drive/usb 2.0

If it was the 1.33, i'd say it was worth $550 to $600 USD because of the memory. ANd if it is the 1.33 and you swapped down to a 30gb hard drive, I'm wondering why? The 1.2ghz ibook 12 inch -- 400 USD tops.

Your totally right California - my mistake.

Its a 40gb HD, I think with all the bundled apps it was about 30gb when I first turned it on and that has kinda stuck I guess :D

40gb!

I love this computer. I only wish it had a dvi out port. I have, on numerous occasions, dropped a huge hard drive in them and a superdrive at the same time. Almost makes them into a Powerbook. For older Mac people who might still have apps and files on OS9, this computer is the best laptop for the money. 'Cept for the fact you cannot run an Apple monitor off it easily. Only VGA Dells.

I quite agree, these are great machines. I'm actually in the process of refurbishing a couple of machines to make some pocket money. I have bought various bits and used them to repair/refurbish two pretty decent machines. One is a 12" 1.33/40GB/512MB/APX machine and the other is a 12" 800MHz/80GB/384MB/APX machine. The 800MHz came with no hard disk so I fitted an 80GB drive. It also came with no keyboard and various bits of physical damage (hinges, top cover etc.) which I've fixed. The 800MHz machine will run for up to 6 hours on a charge so is ideal as a travelling companion. The 1.33GB will run for around 4 hours but is a powerful machine capable of running Leopard.

They are really nicely built and I actually enjoy working on them. I'm an electronics engineer and currently work as an IT consultant so I appreciate the engineering quality. Now I've built the machines I'm kinda reluctant to sell them again!! I might keep one in fact...

Anyway, good luck selling the machine, I'm sure you will find a buyer easily. Just make sure you play it by the book on ebay and don't get ripped off!

Cheers,
Craig.

You guys are making me want to keep the little bugger now!

It has certainly done me proud, never had a single problem with it and is still running as smoothly as the day I got it (after one clean re-install)

Thanks for the input :)

Well, yeah it is the best and smallest 12" Apple laptop also because it takes a full 1.5 gigs of ram. Even the last 12" Powerbook only took 1.25 gigs of ram. The CPU speed makes the 1.33 iBook as fast if not faster than the last 12" Powerbook's speed of 1.5ghz. And the iBook is not metal.
