I am looking for a hard drive that will fit in a 1G iPod. This would be a 1.8" Toshiba 2004GAL model (or equivalent) that came in capacities from 5G up to 20G.
Used is fine, as long as it's guaranteed to be working. And yes, I know you can buy them from iFixit and eBay, but in all honesty, I would rather deal with a fellow MR member.
Drop me a PM with a price if you've got one.
TIA,

Single platter right?
I think I have a 10GB somewhere from my 2G iPod that works.

Wow! That would be great! What do you want for it?
And yes - it's a single platter drive.
I am trying to resurrect a first gen iPod for more or less the cachet of having a working one. Battery was dead in this one, and now that I've replaced that, it's got the dreaded "hard drive click" that often occurs when drives fail.
I'm willing to toss a little bit more $ and effort to make it work - if it gets to being a bum logic board, it will become a bookend...
Let me know -Thanks!

I have a 10GB available. Make an offer + shipping and it's yours.
