I have a custom painted red macbook, that needs a new topcase piece (about 50 bucks) since the current one stopped registering the power button. I know the machine will turn on and work since I tested it with my current topcase.

Also, it only recognized the battery 5% of the time, mostly it can't charge or recognize the battery. Could just need a new connector to the logic board. I am not sure.

Otherwise it functions completely fine.

It currently only has a combo drive since I swapped it from the mini, but it just got a new screen a few weeks ago and works 100% other then that. Comes in the box as well as with the powerbrick and discs/papers.

What is this worth? With a new topcase it would be a great mini-replacement or perhaps it's an easy fix.

I'm thinking for a mini replacement - something around 500 or so with a new topcase, maybe closer to 600?

I have the original LCD that I could put in and rewire and sell it as a media box if I take out the magnets so it doesn't know it's closed I suppose. DO you think it would be worth modding and parting out the good screen and selling it like that?

It's a core 2 Duo macbook - Applecare ended I believe February '08. It's a 2.0 ghz which originally had a superdrive, but now has a combo drive due to a switch. The harddrive is 80gig. And it has 1gig of ram.

The battery (when charged) holds a good charge, the computer just can't recognize it most of the time but I charged it in my computer and it works great.

The topcase works other then the powerbutton (which works SOMETIMES... just takes some figiting.. loose wire?) but probably needs to be replaced for normal function.

I'm feeling like i'm forgetting something, but I can't think of anything else right now.
