a very reliable source of mine told me yesterday that AT&T will NOT be rolling out the 3G iphone in June. Instead he told me that they will be rolling out a new Apple product designed to be better than the iPhone. The mini tablet maybe??????

You're correct. I assume you also noticed this was the posters first an only post. Seems to me this is someone just trying to cause trouble.

Not that I agree in any way with the OP, but the lady at the AT&T corporate store told me that they were all briefed on iPhone changes (in a meeting on 5/14). She didn't say anything about 3G, but rather she said the current iPhone will be dropped to $200 with 2year contract (8GB).

The thing I don't get is how they could drop the price when based on speculation a new model is coming out at the end of June and stock is depleated on a now obsolete model???

So questions that I have that can only be answered by Apple:

1. Will Apple continue to produce the current iPhone?
2. Will the 3G "iPhone" be the same thing or a new product?

I have no reason to believe the AT&T employee, but she seemed sincere. I was going to the store to ask if they had refurbished iPhones since I was having issues purchasing the AT&T Refurb iPhone online back on 5/14. I then was looking at the LG Vu and asked her if they had any instock since she couldn't help me with the iPhone and she said to wait becuase of the price drop on the current model. She made a comment about 3G coming at the end of June, but clearly said that was just rumor as everyone else has heard.

I heard. I believe the toothfairy will now be selling them for cold, hard teeth. The local retailer is at neverneverland, and santa will begin shipping them to every good girl and boy.

Apple AND AT&T said that a 3G iPhone is coming in 2008 and they want to sell 10 million by the end of this year. They would need to come out with it soon, if they wait until too much later they might not be able to maximize sales.

Besides that, the company producing the iPhones said that they will have alot made by the end of may and alot more in june. Several other things are leading up to a june release...so yeah...some source you have
