I am new to the Mac world so please excuse my ignorance.
I grew up on PC. With that said, for the 15 years of me being a computer user I never spent a penny on any software. From Photoshop to Premiere to downloading movies and music, you name it.

I am sure that I am already being criticized and condemned by those of you who consciously spend $1000 or more for a piece of software. And don't get me wrong - I DO NOT want to start a thread about the morality of using pirate software. I do not care about the philosophy "you have to pay for what you get" if I don't have to pay.

Maybe If I grew up in a different country and if I was making enough to not worry about money I would have thought differently. But I didn't and this is not my mentality. Daily physical survival was and still is one of my biggest concerns. I grew up in country, where some time ago owning a computer was a rare luxury and using pirate software - a necessity. Even now I do not know anybody (there or here) who pays for one's PC software. It's all there on the Net - just go and get it!

To summarize all that, the problem that I am always facing is not SHOULD I OR SHOULD I NOT USE PIRATE SOFTWARE but IF I DON'T GET PIRATE SOFTWARE I'M NOT GONNA HAVE ANY SOFTWARE AT ALL.

With that said, I would like to ask you: Can you exist in the Mac world by using only illegal software. I know a few people who do but I am not sure if I can find everything I need. I know where and how to find what I need for PC but I haven't searched for Mac software yet. Is it harder? Also, I have this feeling that compared to PC the Mac users who use illegal software are much less. Am I wrong?

I read a few threads here and I could not find the answers to these question. Surprisingly for me, there were a lot of comments by users who want to switch from illegal to legal software. God bless them.

So, if I made you angry or if you feel my pain, write a comment. I am really curious to find out what you guys think. Thanks.

You can't even talk about this on these forums unless you want to get banned.

It happens. I'd either delete your post or kiss your account goodbye.

Many people pirate many OSX softwares, but really there's so much free stuff (and cheap shareware) that its fine even without a big budget.
