I'm looking to sell my Aluminum PowerBook G4, it has a 1.25GHz PowerPC G4 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, one month old 120GB 5400RPM WD Hard Drive, 64MB Video Card, 15.4", USB 2.0.
It's in good condition, with a ding in the casing by the DC board (does not affect charging in anyway). I've got the A/C adapter, original box, and the OS X 10.5 Leopard DVD (Also freshly installed).
I used this for syncing songs to my iPhone, writing papers, and some chatting online. I hate to sell it, but I need the cash.
Asking: $360 shipped or best offer. Please ask any questions that you have, and give me an offer - I need to sell it!
Pictures will be posted up in about an hour.
Thanks for looking.

Just curious but I was looking at specs of this machine on another website (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g4/stats/powerbook_g4_1.25_15.html) and was wondering if they are true. Does this have the lighted keyboard and DVD burner? About the dent, was it taken apart and pushed back out? Also how soon do you need to unload this? Thanks :D

It has the dvd burner, but not the backlit keyboard. I am not sure if it was pushed back out because that's how I received it from the previous owner.

I had two PBs, one that I just received from eBay, and one that I've had for a month.
Rolex54 is leaving town for a month or two, and he can't have the PB shipped there, so one PB is still up for sale.
I hope this clears things up...
One last PB is available - this is the one that just received off of eBay - without ANY dings or dents. Immaculate condition. I am asking $400 for it.
Specs:
1.25GHz PPC G4
1.5GB RAM
120GB HD

Photos? My macbook just began to do the dreaded "screen flicker" problem... so I'm debating getting a backup / other unit.... What OS is installed on this PB? Disks included? Superdrive or Combo drive? Battery life?

More rules on ebay and more restrictions on people lacking in reliability.

I just put 2 and 2 together as I read this thread...
I bought a 3G iPod from MBR on May 21, which he said he would ship the next day or two. When the iPod didn't arrive, he said he shipped it on the 29th, for which I got a confirmation from the USPS from (meaning he bought the postage but didn't necessarily ship the item.)
As of today, the item is still not in the USPS tracking system, and I don't have it, despite his claims of having shipped it on the 29th.
I think the mods need to look closely at this person's history and consider some sanctions.
As for me, I'm filing a claim with PayPal to recover my funds.

even though this is looking very sketchy, I have to say that USPS tracking rarely shows up for me in a timely fashion, (sometimes not until it is delivered)
still is a sketchy situation though...
Applepi
Jun 7, 2008, 01:18 PM
I don't think this is a coincidence. MBR is not a good seller. He lied to me about shipping my item and it's becoming more clear that he cannot be trusted. Even though some of you have had transactions that went well with him, doesn't mean it can be said for the rest of us who are having difficulties.

I am well aware of the USPS's rather inaccurate tracking system, however, when they have not indicated receipt of the item for shipment for over a week from the time the postage was purchased, I have concerns.
Couple that with the things that are taking place with others, and I am going to err on the side of caution. I would also add that I have been told that the item either was going to ship or had shipped by a specific date on more than one occasion, and other than the indication of postage being purchased, there is nothing to substantiate these statements.
I have an inherent trust of every MR member I have dealt with here, and I have yet to be burned. I also understand that things happen, and that on occasion people have to make changes or can't perform as promised, and I have no problem with that as long as they are upfront about it.
Call it a hunch, but I don't have the feeling that this seller has been upfront with me.
I'm just glad my sale wasn't for a high ticket item.

I have a tracking number, but the USPS says the item has never been presented for shipment. I talked with my postmaster this morning and they checked for me. As they stated, "Just because someone bought postage doesn't mean they mailed it."
They also said that despite the USPS' tracking system being kludgy, if it had been scanned for shipment, there would be a record of it in the system by now.
The postage was purchased on May 29th.
I would also like to trust the seller, but I am reluctant to given the circumstances.

You are incorrect about being able to refund anyone. You can settle the dispute through the resolution center w/ Alecxx, it will issue him a refund, and the dispute will be ended.
You've had almost a week to refund these buyers and yet you haven't. You obviously have enough time to post on here, but you CAN'T give a legitimate reason why you HAVENT refunded them yet. Simple press of a button. You don't have to have the funds in your paypal account, it allows you to link right to your bank. People have paid you more $$ for items since then. Any way you look at it, you have had the ability to refund them but haven't. At the very least, you're an unethical/lazy trader.

MBR, my inherent trust seems to be waning ever so slightly. I don't want to file a claim, all I really want is my computer to be shipped to me and a tracking number to be PM'd to me. I'm pretty lenient about when you ship it, but when you say friday and I haven't gotten any confirmation, things look a little suspect. MBR, I don't know exactly where you are, but my guess is that there is a USPS or UPS store somewhere close to you, so really, it would be easier to just ship out the items requested or refund the people their money than have to deal with all this. I'm beginning to wonder if I should file a claim for my money or not. I'll give you until 13th to ship my item, if I have no confirmation of shipment (ie, tracking number) then I will file a claim. I hope there is a reason for this and it's not that you're scamming us.

When it does show up, you can keep it, send it back to me, or send me $40 again. And, yes, I honestly shipped the iPod.
This is all just a big mess, and it will be cleared up by June 17. If any of you have any questions, you can post here, or PM me. Thanks.

How come the refunds have to be dished out a week from Tuesday? If you were selling things you already owned then the money would be in account somewhere right? That is unless you sold stuff you didn't have or decided not to ship and spent the cash. Now they have to wait for what? You to get your allowance or your paycheck? Clearly they have to wait because you spent their money and didn't deliver, but I am curious why?
A word of advice, that you clearly need. Buy stuff, sell stuff, don't spend your cash until that person comes back and says they 1) received the item 2) are happy with the transaction. Until the transaction is really closed you shouldn't spend the money because you clearly don't have any other cash available to make it right to these 6 other people.
As far as the kid being a Demi-god. That doesn't make them any more ethical.

My $360 has not been refunded, but he escalated my dispute to a full paypal claim, but before he did that he wrote in the box that he wanted to give me a refund. I don't know why he would make paypal decide if we both decided to the exact same thing. The claims process is for working out differences between what each of the parties want.

Is it possible that he thinks by saying he wants to give you a refund, paypal will drop the claim assuming he will give it to you? At that point of course, he wouldn't have to give you anything because you couldn't file a paypal claim again. It would have to go to small claims.
From what I have read so far, I could see the seller trying to make this kind of move. It extends the amount of time he can hold onto the funds and leaves a chance (very small chance) that paypal would give the claim in his favor.

To all posters, please be aware that this is not a place for a discussion, but rather a sale between the buyers/seller. This is against the marketplace rules, as not many of you are actually involved or interested in the items being sold. Let the buyers and seller work it out, and they can keep us updated.

I would have to disagree, it is possible that some of the buyers might not know what to do as they have never been in such a situation. If that is the case, being swindled by the potential crook in a resolution would be all too easy without feedback from others here.
It is easy to say let the buyers and sellers work it out, but when one of the buyers posts some information people are going to chime in to offer advice. The buyers are posting information and feedback is being offered. I don't know about you, but if I haven't been through some of this before you can bet your ... that I wouldn't want to work it out with someone who seems to be a liar.

The mods are very attentive to situations like these, and they can offer their expertise. Or the buyers can open a thread in some other part of the forum to get feedback from others, but this being the marketplace is not a place for EVERYONE to have a discussion

Exactly, I've never dealt with something like this before and all the advice I have received so far from other users has been extremely helpful. And I knew that discussion was against marketplace rules, but after looking at all the other forums, where could we go to discuss besides something that happened/is happening in the marketplace?
As for MBR, it's all too clear of what you did and now I have to wait another week to get my money/item I purchased that I should have received two weeks ago???? Maybe you should refund those who purchased first, or have you spent all the money and could have only refunded $40? Ridiculous. And be 100% honest with me. Did you ship tiger or not? It's been almost 2 weeks and there is no way it would take that long to ship to MN from TX. So where is it?
Thank you to the mods for understanding, and I hope something can be done to avoid things like this in the future.

Exactly my point in a prior post - I want the seller to admit that they didn't ship it if they truly did not. I think this goes to the core of the situation, that the seller was not truthful to begin with, and continued to mislead buyers throughout the process.
The only way that MBR can redeem themselves in my eyes is if the item actually shows up here in the next day or two. I am skeptical, to say the least, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt for a little while longer.
Thank you to the mods for understanding, and I hope something can be done to avoid things like this in the future.
I am in total agreement - thank you, mods! I have been waiting for the mods to lock this thread, and I'm really pleased to see that they have left it open so that the situation is visible to all, if not for anything else but to enlighten other Marketplace users.

Why can we not have a rep system? I know it's possible to implement them in vB. i'm on a few boards that have them in place. It would give documentable reputation.
Also, 100 posts is not necessarily a good way to say someone can sell. I can get 100 semi meaningful posts in a day. How about a time limit as well as x amount of posts?

Quite frankly, this is unacceptable. You had already promised alecxx and rolex54 a prompt refund but failed to deliver. Now you're pushing this back even further and you have not given a reason as to why. Its been stated you can deliver a refund at any time (even if you have a dispute/claim against you), and you can also do it w/o having the funds in your pp account (linking to your bank). Somehow all of there money is gone now and you can't refund it right back? Come on...

Actually, alecxx had no right to ask for a refund. He just couldn't be patient enough to wait until a Tuesday shipment. What happened is he found one on eBay, and then filed a PayPal claim b/c he no longer wanted mine - that's not really what you should do. When you buy something from someone, you're not supposed to go buy another one on eBay... I never promised alecxx a refund, he opened a claim b/c he found one he liked better on eBay (previously stated)...
And yes, I know I'm not a very good seller (for poor communication, etc..). But, I sold my 2 PBs, my 3G iPod, my 4G iPod, and my OS X 10.4 Tiger disk, in order to fix my car, and pay the rent for my apartment. I had no idea that this would happen. I thought that I would have some money on Friday (thought my friend would buy my iMac, but he didn't), so that I could refund Rolex54, but it didn't happen. I get paid on Monday night of next week (June 16), so I can refund everyone then. I would refund them all now, but, I just can't afford it ATM.
That's what happened, and everything should turn out fine after June 17.
ApplePi, when you receive the OS X disk, would you please be kind enough to cancel the PayPal dispute? I did ship it when I said.
At the end of all of this, people will be posting pics of the stuff they bought from me :D
So, no one will want to buy from me after this is over, probably, but if anyone wants a PB G4, I have the one that I was going to sell Alecxx (w/ the ding by the DC-in board). And then that will enable me to refund Rolex54 or alecxx early...

I'm sorry for what's goin on to you, BUT i would not pay the risk in getting something from you, since you dind't showed a good care of our business.

Exactly. I know I am only one of a number of people who were promised items were shipped that have yet to show up in a reasonable time. In my case, the USPS indicated MBR purchased the postage on 5/29, and to-date I have yet to see anything.
As for those who caution about the USPS' lousy tracking system, you must admit that the time elapsed from the purported ship date to now is excessive. We're approaching two weeks....
Again, the only way that MBR can redeem themselves in my eyes is to admit that they have not been totally truthful about the transaction. How long should we wait for something to show up after being told it's shipped on more than one occasion?

In canada, 2 weeks is hardly time to finish shipping. I would wait another week or so before coming to a final judgment. To me though it does sound like it hasnt been shipped, some people have been waiting over 3 weeks for their item in the same country. But for everyone else, just wait a week until deciding if it hasnt been sent, and then on the 17th get the paypal refund.

First of all, you told me Priority Mail. We are less than 1000 miles away from each other..that would take about 3 days, trust me I know..I've done plenty of priority shipments.

One time I shipped a couple of packages filled with books home from college using media mail. It took 4-6 weeks to get everything to me. I haven't used media mail since.

Filing a claim will require the sender to show proof of having shipped the item. If that doesn't exist, odds are very good things will go in favour of the non-receiver.

I shipped them via USPS Media Mail. Can take 7-14 business days. My earlier explanation was true.
Hmm doesn't sound like it? Why don't you just be straight with everyone? Just a "yes I got caught up in all this and didn't actually get round to posting anything"

Thanks for clarifying that. So how much longer should I be waiting for the iPod that shipped on the 29th of May? It still doesn't show as being received by the USPS.

Ok. Here's the deal:
I got in a financial bind, decided to sell some of my semi-valuable items to help get my out. Well, I sold them, transferred the money to my bank account, and, well, got out of the bind (fixed my car, etc..). Then, I wasn't able to ship the PBs for a few days (due to heavy loads at work), and then Rolex54 was going out of the country on Friday.. Well, how was I going to get him a refund?? Then, he opened up a PayPal dispute (350 or 360 bucks in the red), then Alecxx filed a claim (another $350 bucks in the red)... Well, I'm not able to fix that negative balance until Tuesday... Then tonight, bobjob opens up a dispute, demands a refund by tomorrow morning or he's "getting the authorities involved". How can I possibly refund him with a -750 balance?? And, I didn't do anything that bad, I was going to ship the items to Rolex54 and Alecxx, I shipped the iPod to MacDann late, shipped an iPod to techlover late, shipped the tiger disk to ApplePi late, shipped the Cube to bobjob late... And who knows what else I shipped late?? I'm sorry guys, I did ship your stuff, and I know you'll get it eventually. And, I know I'm a crappy communicator. And I'm probably never going to sell anything on the marketplace here again after this... But, I just want to get this straightened out... But I can't refund anyone until Tuesday. What do you want me to do????

FWIW, my refund still hasn't been funded, according to PayPal.
As I have said all along, you need to be truthful. That's the only way you can redeem yourself as far as I'm concerned. I am still not convinced you're telling me the truth about shipping the iPod.
And to be brutally honest, all of this was a result of your (continued) actions - to try and displace blame on the buyers is just wrong.
As has been discussed throughout this thread, I think everyone here, at least those I have dealt with, are understanding and willing to work with a buyer/seller who runs into a glitch. I can say that on one occasion I had a sale that I didn't get shipped out the day I told the seller - I contacted them, let them know I missed the date, apologized, and offered to let them back out, refund a portion of the shipping, or just continue on. It happens - but when it happens to nearly all of your buyers, it's a real stretch to maintain any shred of credibility.
If you agreed to ship something to someone by a specific date, you should either deliver or be prepared (and expect) to give an immediate refund. I'm not a party to the transaction, but if I understand it correctly, you agreed to ship something to arrive by a "hard" date, which you did not.
So tell me on what day did you ship the iPod?

I have .02 that I'd like to weigh in on.
Everyone here has the right to be PO'ed, that's without a doubt.
MBR has lied, been slack, and a pee poor communicator.
I have no idea how old MBR is, but I would wager kinda young. I've been in a similar situation. I do something, wind up in a jam, try to do something else to try to get out of the jam, it blows up in my face and I panic. From the sounds of it, thats exactly what happened with MBR.
Some of you have never been faced with his situation, or anything remotely like it. I have. It sucks, royally, but I bet/hope he learns from it. He is going to have to work hard to rebuild any kind of rep here to sell again, but I implore ya'll to see this for what it appears to be- a giant cluster F that I believe no one wanted to happen, not an intentional act to try to scam someone or screw someone out of money. If that's what he really wanted to do, he would have let his paypal account go, and never posted here again. I think that alone shows that he is trying to do the right thing.
MBR- from now on, be honest dude, take it from someone with ALOT of experience in the dishonest department- it takes ALOT less energy to be honest and upfront. It might hurt for a little bit, but trust me, it's alot less painful than the alternative. If you screw up- OWN UP TO IT ASAP, people are usually willing to work with you if you are open and honest. I'll still stick up for you cause I have been there, and for some stupid reason have faith in people still. Do what's right, as quick as possible, and keep your word.
Also, if anyone wants to buy something MBR has for sale, and is iffy, I'm happy to be a middle man free of charge to see that no one gets screwed.
Essentially, unless there is news, why dont we let this thing drop a bit?

You should all just suck it up, enough is enough. Hes apologized, admitted he was wrong, and is going to refund any one by the 17th. Hopefully no one ends up getting ripped off in the end, but there is nothing you can do except wait until the 17th. In the meantime let the buyer and seller communicate via email and PMs, and lets let this thread bury itself. We get the point, hes had a rough time and the sales didnt go smoothly. So sthu, and wait for your refund (even if it is a drawn out wait for it until the 17th)

See, I disagree with this attitude. It's this kind of thinking that lets scammers get away with scamming multiple people. This is a community, and if people don't speak up and let the dirty laundry be aired then more people might be lured in by dishonest people due to others silence.
Yes, he admitted he was wrong, and yes, he apologized, but NO, he has not yet righted ANY of the wrongs, and this is over far too long a period.
And no, I haven't been in the same situation, and you know why? Because I act honestly and fairly. Why anyone would defend this person and act like he should be cut any slack is beyond me.

Even if you started a disputer via Paypal, the seller has 20 days to either provide tracking info or provide a refund (unless the seller of the buyer decides to escalate it prior to this), if neither happens then it gets automatically escalated to Paypal and from there I think it can take up to 30 days for them to review the case and make a decision, and if you did a charge back to your card it can take up to 75 days for them to resolve it.
I know but cause I just had to open a dispute for non-receipt, and I called them up to see what was better for me. Well I hope everything turns out well.
Most disputes are resolved through open communication but, unfortunately, that is not always the case.
If a dispute is escalated to a claim, a Claim Resolution Specialist will use the messages you and the buyer exchanged during the dispute along with other information to decide the outcome of the case. You can respond to requests for information from PayPal and track the progress of a claim in the Resolution Center.
Your options for resolving a claim will vary depending on the type of claim the buyer has filed. Options may include:
* Offering the buyer a full or partial refund
* Providing a refund if the buyer returns the item to you
* Providing information to dispute the merits of the claim
Once a claim is filed, you and the buyer will be subject to specific deadlines for responding with information so that PayPal can make every effort to resolve the matter within 30 days.

I shipped them via USPS Media Mail. Can take 7-14 business days. My earlier explanation was true.
This is true although I think you're full of BS. I waited a month for media mail to get to my house - it was postmarked 28 days prior. (It was a book through Amazon.com used marketplace - didn't have much value to me, the book was a cent, the shipping was $3.99)
I still think you're lying; I wish the mods would give out your IP address, and the sellers would join together and file criminal or civil - whichever is more appropriate, I am not a lawyer - charges against you.
Your story would actually have one ounce of a distant cousin of truth to it if _ONE_ person's item showed up in the mail. But instead, they haven't, and you continue to backtrack about shipping dates, whether you shipped it or not, etc, etc.
You keep changing your story trying to appeal to people's emotions more and more as people call out your BS in hopes of saving your skin. You took advantage of far too many people, and you deserve a lot more than being kicked off these forums.

We're in touch with this situation, are well aware of what's going on and who is involved. Posts from others that are not directly connected with all of these transactions aren't really productive at the moment, and calls for bans at this stage aren't going to help anyone at this point in time.
So, let's leave it to all the involved parties while we monitor the situation, and let the admins and mods discuss all the ins and outs, and the information we have, and make the right decisions in the long run without firing up the lynch mob.

Upon further inspection, it was charged back to my card but has not shown up. So nevermind. Does anyone know if this is instant?

Paypal states that i got a refund, AS PROMISED, even if it doesn't show up in my CC status online.
But i believe it's normal.
Thnx MBR.

Did the tracking number you get show some progress? mine is still stuck in "electronic info received" that's why I was concerned about all this.
Mine, too. And then I was told the iPod shipped "again" on 6/6 (the original ship date was 5/29).
Does this mean the iPod never shipped, MBR? Should I still expect it? The last thing you told me was that it shipped on the 6th of June. If you didn't ship it, you need to be honest and say so instead of leading me on.
If it shows up I'll certainly pay for it, as I would rather have the iPod given the choice.

It will not show up on your CC statements or account online, when you get refunded on paypal, the money stays on paypal, you then have to transfer it back to your account, don't know why it doesn't just go directly back.

I am curious as to the status of everyone involved in this thread - has everyone received their merchandise and/or refunds?
(I'm still waiting for the iPod that shipped on the 6th of June....)

I got my refund, and that is all I was supposed to get, so overall I am happy it all worked out...
