USB 2 by spec is backwards compatible to 1.1, but whats the point with an 8gb drive? It would take weeks to back anything up...

It takes a couple hours, and in an emergency is better than it not working at all. Hell, I've filled a 30 GB iPod via USB 1.1. Took a day or so, but after that it didn't matter, since it only had to sync play-counts etc.

My 4 GB flash drive takes up too much power to work on some of my older computers. I've got a powered hub now for that, but it'd be nice not to have to lug that around.
