Wow those LCDs are a GREAT deal.
I already have a 18 inch though. I spent $400 on it though.
I was planning on going to circuit city soon to get a usb 2 flash drive. I guess I will do that and shop on friday,
Thanks!

I remember one time going to a BestBuy in Allentown, PA. It was in December I believe, and it took me an HOUR AND A HALF to get out of their parking lot. I have vowed to never set foot in another BestBuy in my life. Well, unless I'm on company time or they're giving away GameCubes or something... hehe

I am in the market for a new hard drive, but I want at least 200GB.
I will, however, consider a free lava lamp. :D ;)

in this recession with just a tiny hint of recovery, america is desperate to get the wheels rolling again and this christmas season will be full of great deals
the only problem is that a lot of people are out of work or making less money than in the 90s
and also there's the fact that high tech gear always goes down in price and there are deals to be found now, before the infamous "first day of shopping" for the holiday season
smart shoppers get it all done on some other day and because a lot of people have that friday off, it adds to the shopping mall mess

well all this is from another site, i have friends who work at best buy that told me all of this, but i thought it would be easier to copy and paste from another forum instead of typing from my memory. as for the people getting up to go to best buy at 6am, you may want to consider getting there earlier. see my plan was was to pretend i work at best buy, being my senior year and all my friends and i have been doing all kinds of crazy things. i ordered a best buy employee shirt off ebay and i was hoping it would get here in time for friday so i can just walk in to best buy and rearrange stuff and help people out, i thought it would be funny as hell.

If a GDP growth rate of 8.2 percent, record low inventories, highest numer of new housing starts any several years, the best quarter with the DJIA since "the good old days," non-existant inflation and interest rates steady at their lowest rate since the Kennedy administration is a "tiny hint of recovery," what would constitute a "flashing neon sign?"

i hope we are not seeing a mirage and that the usa can sustain it and climb out of the funk we are in right now
i don't care who is president when we recover, or who takes credit for it like someone will when we are in good times again, because recessions like this are very bad for just about everyone involved

while emachines have improved since their big debut several years back, i would still rather have a dell desktop or compaq/hp desktop and even then i would be on the ready to have to fix something ;)
but if i were to get a PC desktop, i would go for sony or a "higher end" hp/compaq than the ones that compete on the sub 500 dollar level against emachines
but to be honest, the $799 dollar emac just blows them away since a cheap PC desktop with a 17" inch crt before rebates is about eight hundred dollars anyway, and the rebates for that 100 or 200 can take forever to come in so you need the money up front
but that being said about desktops, i am happy with just laptops around the house and the borrowed G4 desktop my friend let me use because he has tons of macs in his own house and needs to make space...but actually a house remodel is the ultimate expensive upgrade for making expansion room for more macs and periphs:D

Will that Maxtor HD work in PowerMac?
I'm woefully ignorant of such things - which is part of the reason I like Macs, I guess.

Yeah, it should work.

Nov 26, 2003, 02:37 PM
yeah a hard drive is like ram, it will work. only problem is that its maxtor, crappy drives if you ask me, but some people will like them and for 50 bucks who cares. but from working in service and seeing many drives, i would much rather have a seagate or ibm.

i've had alot of problems with the 1st Gen Cheetah's and some of the new Barracuda's, my old ones are still going strong, even though the warranty ran out 2 years ago, and of course there's those IBM Deathstars.. ;D
it's really hit or miss these days, i had a WD die 2 months after I got it.. but the one i got for my Powerbase lasted 4 yrs of constant use, and im still using it in a FW enclosure
