Product Description

Open two different applications, such as a word processor and a web browser on one monitor. It boasts 500 cd/m2 BRIGHTNESS, 8MS RESPONSE, and 1920 x 1200 RESOLUTION display which outputs crisp, distortionfree images. The stand is tilt, swivel, height, and also pivot adjustable allowing you to choose portrait and landscape modes. The enhanced productivity and ease of use makes the LG FLATRON ideal for professional solutions.

It's an MVA panel which is much different than the usual TN panels found it lower cost monitors. MVA (and the comparable PVA technology) is mid-range between the TN technology and the very high end S-IPS technology found in the 24" monitors that sell in the $1800-$2500 range. It gives you much better color saturation, more even lighting levels, and finer color gradations than the TN panels.

The Flatron L246WP-BN from LG is a true display hub. The 24” widescreen has a 1920x1200 native resolutionto let it display true 1080p video. The panel also has a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 500cd/mē brightness rating for superb image quality. The intelligent auto resolution feature dynamically adjusts the resolution level for optimum picture quality.

This is also a great choice for writers or desktop publishers since the monitor can pivot 90° into portrait mode so you can see a full page and more on the screen. The monitor also has a 3-port USB (1up & 2down) hub so you can easily attach thumb drives or even a graphics tablet.

One of the keys to success is to be well connected, and this monitor is very successful. In addition to the standard D-Sub connection and the previously mentioned USB hub there is also an HDCP compliant HDMI port. For further connectivity there is also a component video input. LG's motto is "Life's Good" -- it'll certainly be improved with this monitor!

Outstanding for Photo Work

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Huge amount of on-screen real estate gives plenty of room for editing space and control pallets. Easy to set up and calibrate using Colorvision Spyder2Pro resulting in outstanding color accuracy. Good, clean design with excellent fit and finish. Multiple inputs let me use this as a 1080P high def television. Inputs are changed by a single button on the front bezel. No more navigating though menus! Pivot function is handy when working on portrait format images. DVI/HDMI and d-sub cables included. Base provides a good range of height, angle and pivot adjustments. sRBG color space available.
Cons: Overly bright and color inaccurate out of the box (big, fat, hairy deal). On-screen menus are a little confusing at first.
Other Thoughts: Due to the high native resolution, you'll need a very high quality display card. For gaming and/or watching hi-def video, get nothing short of an x1950PRO or 8800GTS if you want to get the best out of this display.
