because there are people that are interested enough in music as an art form to discuss and read others' interpretations of the lyrics to different songs. some people pay no attention, but a lot of people are left wondering by some songs...

the meaning of the song "hotel california" has raged on for years. various meanings include church of satan(?), divorce, drug addiction, a real hotel, etc.
