I've got a dual-drive Firewire enclosure I bought from ComputerGeeks.com a while ago (their page is here (http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=MAP-302F-01)) and I'm looking to get rid of it.
It's a utilitarian and completely generic Oxford 911 case (no printed box or manuals came with it), but it seems to work just fine and has a large fan in the back that should keep the drives cool. The power supply is internal, so there's no seperate brick. The faceplates in the front are removable, if you want to put in something like an IDE zip drive, though I only used it with hard drives. ComputerGeeks said it was compatible with drives over 137GB, although I never tested it with anything more than 120GB. Both drives should be set to cable select.
It comes with a power cable and the needed 6 pin Firwire cable, and is in like-new condition--just sat on a desk. I did, however, disconnect the drive activity light on the front, since apparently only one of the two was designed to work anyway (it can be reconnected if you want, and the power light works). I don't have any drive screws, so you'll need to supply those yourself.
I successfully used it with two drives connected to a G4 with 10.2 for a while, and it should work with a PC as well. I do NOT know if this will have any problems with Panther's Firewire issues, although being FW400 it's theoretically ok, at least from the FW800 issue Apple identified.
If you're interested, feel free to e-mail me at marc@animeworld.com, or post/e-mail if you'd rather call me on the phone.
I'm asking for $40 plus whatever it costs to ship it (from CA, USA); similar new cases with a 1-year warranty routinely go for $69 on e-bay. Mailed check or Paypal.
Thought I'd give the Macheads here a shot before I ebay it.
