Hey. I'm thinking about selling my macbook for an iMac and want to know what a reasonable price for it is. Specs are- 160 gig 5400 rpm drive, 2 gigs ram, 2.0 c2d (got it a year ago, what processor is it? Like santa rosa, penryn, etc), combo drive, OS X 10.5. Also would include an 80 gig hard drive, 1 gig of ram, leopard disks, and tiger re-install disks. There are a few problems- there is a VERY small warp at the top right hand side of the screen, but it does not effect viewing quality at all. The other problem is also with the screen. The guy at the apple store told me (when I had to get the wrist rest area replaced) that it happened because of weight being put on the screen. There are marks in a few spots but only one is really noticeable, and that's when there happens to be something white on the screen in that area. The other marks are barely noticeable, and if you didn't know they were there you probably wouldn't see them, if you were looking straight at the screen. But, if you look at it from the side, you can see the spots.

Unless you are hurting for money, keep the MacBook and add an iMac.

If you are hurting for money still keep the MacBook and forget the iMac.

My G5 iMac bit the dust and I tried to use my MacBook as my main computer.

I missed the true portability of the MacBook because I always had to disconnect everything to go mobile.

I bought a 24" iMac and my MacBook is now FULLY mobile.

I wouldn't be without both.

You will lose a lot selling the MacBook. Don't do it.

Keep it at all cost.

If you can afford it add the iMac. If not just use the MacBook.

Hm, yea that sounds like good advice. I guess I could get some $ and get a MBP, but I really want a bigger screen and better video card.

I sold my 51 week old C2D Blackbook (2Ghz, 3GB, 120GB) for $1025. I only had about $1150 in it (bought it refurb for $1050 and added ram). So for an entire year of use, I lost tax + $100. I couldn't justify dumping another $200 into it for applecare and wouldn't be caught dead without a warranty on an apple portable.

I've been using my 1.5 Core Solo mini in the meantime while trying to figure out what to replace the macbook with (or see whether an aluminum macbook will be released soon) and honestly it's been reasonably solid. Though I do have another macbook at work that I can use for my design work when I need more power.

I just sold my MB and got full price. The MB holds their value. However, I should say I work for Apple and I did buy my MB at a discount, so I did make it ahead a bit. However, you could still get some good cash for it, as long as it's not messed up (cracked screen, chipping keyboard)
