backup your mac?

how do i back up all my files on my mac without using an extenal hardrive. i want to be able to rip all the stuff on to some cds. is there any free app or program that aides in this?...and in what way does it help? if there is any other way please mention it. i am needing to back up all my stuff soon. thanks for any help.

I use silverkeeper for backup to extertal hardrive...I use retrospect for what you are talking about...
