I've only played a few films since installing Panther -- Contact, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rob Roy (Liam Neeson), and Casablanca -- and at the beginning of chapters, the audio is out of sync by a frame or two on my 1.33ghz 17" pb set to full-screen (no visible dock).

Does anyone else have this problem? Any idea if this will be fixed under a future X.3 update?

this is terrible... I wonder what might be causing this???

I've only got a 12-inch Pb and it works fine, there are no synching problems...

I'm sure this is not an inherent problem with Panther as I have not heard it before...

The last time I experienced that problem was under OS 9. I'm running Panther on a 12" PB, and have experienced no problem. You might want to try reinstalling DVD Player.

is it actually possible to reinstall DVD player on it own?

Yeah, you can extract the DVD Player.app package from your installation disc using this software. (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743).

Actually, it may have been my fault -- not the OS.

Seems there's a selection under Energy Saver for DVD viewing that turns off the hard drive. With the drive turning, various UNIX housekeeping functions (and other things perhaps) are interfering with replay.
