i got my powerbook about 2 months ago and love everything about it. so i want to make sure it lasts as long as possible and always runs smooth and fast. so i'm wondering what maintenance i should do on my mac and how often, and if there are any "tricks" to speed it up?

so far, i've picked up:

1. repair permissions a lot
2. run cron scripts - i do this from terminal cause its fun (sudo periodic daily/weekly/monthly)

can somebody explain why i should "update prebinding" and how?

also, if there are any other tips and tricks for keeping a clean machine, and to maybe speed it up, i'd love to hear it, as i'm sure a lot of the new mac owners on this board would.....

thanks :D

I think the prebindings are updated everytime you install OS updates. So, if you just installed 10.3.2, then your prebindings have just been done.

Prebinding, aka the optimizing at the end of every install.
