As if a website needed a teaser trailer.

Ridiculous.

Haha. I agree. The guy's like nightcrawler. Kind of goofy, but I liked the logo thing in the end, that was nicely done I think.

Very nicely done. But yes, completely pointless! It doesn't show what "Spymac 3" is, what its features are. WTF is the point????

To hype an already overhyped and WAY overrated site? That's gotta be the point of the trailer.

Ah come on, it's cool in a funny way. And I think that's how it's supposed to be.

i think it's kinda odd to have a trailer for a website that has been over-hyped for a while, but whatever floats their boats i suppose.

Clearly they could have saved the money they put into that trailer (it couldn't have been done cheap) and put it into, say, getting actual factual information?

It's so cheesy and stupid.

Thats probably the gayest trailer I have ever seen, save for the ending logo.

I was stupid enough to click on the 159MB trailer only to be treated to the lamest, overhyped nothing. I pity the fool who would download the 306MB version.

I guess the Star Wars kid can now kiss the "2003's Lamest" award goodbye...

I was unaware that trailers for web sites could be attrated to other trailers of the same gender.

for a moment I thought they were going to sell spymac bags, hats sunnies and cuff links! But I guess not. Then I thought maybe they'd made a movie, but no.

Then it almost looked like they would show us some new web features... 'fraid not.

I've been sitting here trying to work out what to infer from this trailer... could it be that only knobs use spymac? but a lot of knobs.

edit: I don't mind spymac, despite the trailer

Hahaha good one. Although SpyMac was always a contender for that award.

Almost looks like a thinly disguised commercial for selling the SpyMac products.

You can't have cool products without a cool commercial.

Looks nice but I am confused about what it is trying to say. They sell products now?

On the screen it had the usual style buttons, but it says "Auction" on one of them, maybe they are starting auctions on their site too.

I think I have to give them props for making a pixlet version. I've never seen a pixlet clip.

i thought it was pretty cool, did an awesome job. i wish macrumors had a cool gallery like they do, but i doubt thats the main purpose or goal for this site.

it was pretty cool but was most definitely not worth the hours and hours spent working on it.

meh...it's just to entertain. :)

that must of taken a lot of work :)

I hope not to see this thread turn into a 'MacRumors vs Spymac' war, or a Spymac-bashing thread.

At the end of the day, we're just mac-related sites full of mac-lovers.

I wonder whether MacRumors will make a trailer? ;)

I visit MacRumors and Spymac on a daily basis. I come here for Apple news, and go to Spymac for the gallery and forums. Spymac is a very entertaining site, despite the iWalk "leak". Hell, Apple made big mistakes too but we still love them.

Same here.

Well said. :)

I couldn't care less about the iWalk. It's was just a rumor. It's as dead as OS 9. Let's move on. Spymac doesn't do rumors anymore. Apple has made that clear. It's just a community. That's why the trailer was made, to serve the community, and give a few insights as to what is coming in the next major update to the site. The administrators could have done sod-all, but decided to make a trailer to entertain.

Why is there a trailer for a website.

It's just a little something for the Spymac community. Granted, they could have done without the trailer, but look how excited most of the members were when they saw it. It's just all for fun.

I wonder if they are going to start selling junk. As someone who posts there, I notice that there seem to be lots of teens on the site that seems to be the type that like (and can afford) to buy things w/logos on them. Offering "Spymac" branded stuff (at outrageous prices, I'm sure) probably wouldn't be a half bad idea...

Why is everyone getting so down on the trailer? It's a fun little video made by people who have a great online community. It's not supposed to be serious or serve an immediate function(other than creating some hype). Is that really so wrong? I mean it's one thing if you just don't think the trailer was done well, but why put down some people having fun? And I'm sure those who are bitching that it was pointless are the same people who like to watch 10 minute long movie trailers that give away the whole plot.

I think if they had just called it a "teaser" there would be little to no argument.
