He's a yank. The song is question is a cover of Tears for Fears' 'Bad World' from the 'Donnie Darko' soundtrack...

Donnie Darko on DVD and then listen to the closing song of the film.

tears for Fears did it first in the eighties, Gary Jules makes it sound like REM had a huge hit in the eighties that we seem to have overlooked.
I really like the song and this recorded performance.:)

p.s. I love this film, it was made in less than a month and on a really really low budget. Don't listen to people who say "is that that wierd film with the giant rabbit?"
There is so much to this film apart from the rabbit.

The Darkness are popular because they come out of nowhere and take genuine sales from manufactured industry controlled ****e.

Donnie Darko is another underdog competitor that gives you what mega budgets cannot buy.

Donnie Darko was a badass movie.

A little strange, but badass.

Uh oh, we are getting off topic.

yeah, we wouldn't want an overclocked moderator getting their knickers in a twist on such a non religious/political/sexual/racist thread of commentary.

BTW, Is the term xmas offensive to people of the Christian faith?

and should anyone except the son of God be number one during this Christian festival season?

Hands up who wants to reportthis to a moderator?

well this thread seems to be hijacked already so i guess ill futher perpetuate that...

isnt "X" a symbol for Christ? I thought i read that some where im not sure. i know certain christians (mostly fundies) are offended by it because they think its X ing out Christ from the christmas holiday.... a symbolic thing you know.

I know ive heard of christian being said as "xian".... so thats part of the reason why i have come to think of "X" being a symbol for Christ.

... but would they be considered as a religious culture? If gargamel is to be considered a witch, would their belief system have some sort of pagan origin?

if that is a little too removed from topic, maybe we could consider which song would be more appealing to a smurf?

My money is on the darkness:p

supposedly to brits us americans dont understand the darkness.

on another note...

all of which means it was probably the perfect time to unleash a beast whose hatred of those art snobs was as intense as any rock critic's; and which was only amplified by the fact that the haters themselves were even artier, and even snobbier, than any of those whom they loathed with such passion.

The word "Christmas" means "Mass of Christ," later shortened to "Christ-Mass." The even shorter form "Xmas" - first used in Europe in the 1500s - is derived from the Greek alphabet, in which X is the first letter of Christ's name: Xristos, therefore "X-Mass." well there you go! thanks Lethal.

fundies are being too anal about the whole xmas thing. some of the same people who believe that those who use the term "xmas" used to think (still do to some degree) that "KISS" (the band) stood for knights in satans service.

come on get real now.

heheh, at one point I used to know what was roughly in the chart and at least who the number 1 was... but for several years this just hasn't been the case, I could name possibly 3 acts in our top 40 at the moment, I don't have an idea about the rest of the positions.... same goes for the Indie chart, I used to follow that as well, then that went downhill too....
