Here's a TIP on how to get the OLD iPhone Data Plan on your NEW iPhone 3G.
Please follow these steps exactly
1. On a piece of paper, write down the following
SIM CARD NUMBER (located on actual card)
IMEI NUMBER (for your old iPhone)
2. Call AT&T and tell them the following
"Hi, I dropped my iPhone 3G into the toilet and its broken so I am using my Old 2G iPhone. Can you please update my account to use the $20.00 iPhone data plan instead of the current iPhone 3G plan"
(You can say anything as long as you indicate that you are NOT using the new iPhone 3G)
The rep will provide you with instructions on how to obtain the SIM CARD number and IMEI number and you will provide these numbers. The rep will verify that the phone is an iPhone 2G device and then change your account to include the older iPhone data plan.
You will still get the 3G data service and 3G speeds on the older iPhone data plan.
3. Thank the rep and enjoy!
You just saved yourself $15 per month from AT&T.
