what in the world happened to 24 this week and next week?

why did fox network take 24 off the air this week and next week to put on american idol tonight and simple life next week on 24's time slot?

i don't get it...does anyone know what's going on?

umm its a christmas vacation ... this season is going alright , but it seems to episode to episode so far, not quite full or even half season plots yet
