Why is iPod up to 5G but we only got 3G on iPhone?

The 5G iPod refers to the 5th generation of iPod (and technically we are at the 6G now with the "Classic").

3G refers to the third generation of celluar radio technology.

Say what? We are currently on the 6th Generation iPod (iPod Classic), the 3rd Generation nano, 2nd Generation shuffle, 1st Generation Touch, and 2nd Generation iPhone. The 3G is just that is uses the 3rd Generation Digital Cellular data Network.
