View Full Version : Random question: Would you give Jobs a kidney?

As rumors of Jobs' health continue to circulate, I just had a random thought and figured I would put the question out there, if Steve Jobs needed a kidney, would you give him one of yours(provided you had 2 healthy ones)?
Don't think I'm THAT much of an Apple fanboy, but who knows what I would do if asked :p

No, I wouldn't. I'd sell one to him instead. ;)

If he needed a kidney, I wouldn't willingly volunteer one of mine.
There are other people who would, and are related to him or know him personally and care for him.

Would I give him my kidney? No.
Woudl I trade him one for free Apple products for life? You bet.

I'd trade it for a rack full of Xserves, and an appropriate internet connection so that I can' actually use them for something.

if he was next on the need-a-donation line, then yes...if not, then to the next person.

I'm sure he would already have one waiting for him...but if he need mine then yeah I would, I would for anyone if he/she desperately needed mine.

I'd only give one to a family member.
Isn't that kind of the kidney-law too? /doesn't know much about kidneys it seems
Plus I sorta like my kidneys.

Usually, yes. You can't have some stranger off the street donate a kidney to you. Besides, what are the chances of a match?
OP: This is a very, very disturbing topic and I'm disgusted that someone would even consider this. Steve Jobs is not Ghandi, Mother Teresa, or another influential mind, but a marketing guru.

Well, if Steve Jobs personally came up to me, of all people, and literally begged me for my kidney, I would definitely research into the consequences of doing such a thing. I mean, sure, he's not related but if he made an effort of choosing me over all people, I would definitely have to consider the poor man's plea, as I would with anyone who meant something in my life. (whether personally or impersonal sense)

Why do you think up these questions.
Would you give your life for Steve Jobs?

Nope, I wouldn't give him a kidney. I'm sure he could buy one from someone if he really needed one anyway. If I ever donate one, I'd give it to a child who, without my help, wouldn't have the chance to live to adulthood.

Organ recipients have to show that they're ready and up to the responsibility of accepting an organ. I'm sure Jobs would be, but honestly I wouldn't give one to him. He should get one from a family member or from an organ harvest.

I'd be too afraid. By giving away a kidney for no reason, my backup is gone. I'd give it to a relative, but I would never give or sell my kidney to SJ or anyone, especially not for a lifetime of Macs. No chance.

No, I think they come in pairs for good reason. :p But if he needs my farkin kidney so badly he can pay a high price for my sacrifice. I'd be horrified if a family member needed my one 'spare' and I gave it to Steve twunting Jobs... that way at least I can throw that family member a wicked "sorry your kidneys are bunk" party or perhaps buy them one.... perhaps even by putting out a contract on SJ to retrieve that kidney. ;-)

Not a chance in hell no matter how much money was offered.

Eh, Maybe. I don't know. I guess It would depend.
Some kind of promised incentive would be nice too though.

I would consider giving my kidney to anyone who needed it. But I wouldn't give it to someone if they had self inflicted their demise (I.E. shooting up). I would also want to get to know the person. And I would may be take a a fully loaded Mac Pro with two 30" ACD's and lifetime info on all upcoming Apple products, but that wouldn't be required.

No.
I'd certainly not do it for love… and certainly not for the money.
Mind you, would PC fanbois be offering their body parts to save Michael Dell or Steve Balmer?
No wonder people look at Mac users as members of some kind of cult. ;)

I'd sell mine to Steve Balmer, too. Or anyone who could afford to pay for one for that matter.
