well just imagine the tech news: "Mac Community Gains Strength With Purchase of Aircraft Carrier; Gates Scared" it would rock! would give new meaning to intelligence gathering for rumors mongers.

If we could buy this one too then we could have a small fleet. :p

Nice little ship, but where would you put it?

And then you'd have to get it to its final destination....would be cool though....but I think I'd prefer the submarine :D

It's not really a bargain when you consider what the operating costs must be. How big of a crew would you need?

Right, I'm off to bed now, but I expect some kind of fund raising scheme sorted out by the time I wake up tomorrow, with a decent little (BIG!) nest egg kindly donated to the fund by your good selves :D

if we can convince 12 000 people to donate rather than buy a 40 gb ipod than we could have this baby

we could make it a mac only ship and have steve jobs' buddy larry ellison land his f-16 on it:p

I'd still question on whether it would be seaworthy or not....hate to spend the money on the thing if you couldn't go anywhere with it.

Most likely the best thing would be to dock it somewhere and make it a tourist attraction. Maybe Boston Harbor and have MacWorld '04 there :D

I must have shown/told of this auction to at least a dozen people last night. I so much see the potential of the most exclusive party/resort ever. :D

Heliports for access. Tons of space for entertaining. Rooms galore for sleeping & such. The potential to make a lot of money off the rich & famous is in this thing. ;)

The tricky part is getting the $6 million just go open a bid on it. I won't even guess at what it would cost to remodel the thing for said accomodations.

if we put up a banner that says "mission accomplished" ya thing bush will land on it :D :)

Okay, so we have two aircraft carriers for security, a cruise ship for living space.....

we can use these to get to and from our nomadic archipellago:
http://www.geocities.com/ferries_bc/pacificats.html

with a little more research we could be an independant, virtual nation.... Put up some servers and get some decommed Tankers set up as floating crop-land....
:D ;)

If you have enough money to just say "I want to buy an aircraft carrier today," losing that probably doesn't hurt THAT much.
